Fooq’s Miami
It’s been exactly a year since I left to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Reminiscing on the four incredible months I had there, I couldn’t help but miss all the restaurants that tasted like a first-class destination, but made me feel completely at home. So, to recreate the feeling, I made my way over to Fooq’s Miami. This restaurant aims to serve “Feel Good Food” in an urban, yet distinctly cozy setting.
Restaurant owner, David Foulquier, named the resturant Fooq’s because it ” is inspired by the nickname given to Foulquier’s family home growing up, known amongst friends as a staple meeting place with an open-door policy,” per a release. As for the food, it’s “farm-to-table, international feel-good cuisine” with an “eclectically-curated menu of homemade dishes.”

Talk about #HairGoals
If you’re like me, you’ve been lusting over all those beachy, bedhead-looking haircuts that have been all over Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook these days. After endless tries to duplicate these hair goals I see all over the internet, I decided to treat my hair to a day of luxury at an Instagram-famous salon.
I’ve been following an Instagram account for the past year who is actually a girl I knew growing up. Little did I know that @thefashionisa wouldn’t just be a friend I had 100 mutual friends with, and someone I knew that decided to go to beauty school; but an actual hair goddess that I am forever grateful for (even if I just started going to her in November).
When I finally realized how much I needed to get my hair back to looking more natural and Pinterest perfect, I called Isa at IGK Salon at SLS and made my first appointment.

Adidas Game Day Fashion
So Adidas decided to hit Nike where it hurts — at least sentimentally. The University of Miami was the original Nike school. Back in 1987 they signed a deal with Nike to exclusively supply uniforms for all of its teams. That’s common practice now, but at the time it was unheard of. Apparently, however, Nike didn’t want to keep shelling out the big bucks and Adidas swooped in. It offered Miami a 12-year-deal (the longest deal Adidas has with any school), rumored to be worth as much as $90 million. And the University of Miami students could not be happier! We now have an endless amount of game day options! My personal favorite? This Miami Hurricanes Jersey Dress!

You can’t be in Miami without having lechon at some point… And owners of Miami Smokers, Andres Barrientos and James Bowers, cure and smoke Heritage Breed pasture-raised pigs in tons of different ways to satisfy to these needs! Chances are you’ve had a taste of their no antibiotic and hormone-free candied bacon in a burger at Kush, in the chicken and waffles at Eating House, or in some ice cream at Azucar. But how about making a stop at their own restaurant in Little Havana?!
“We wanted to be in Little Havana because we wanted to be within the Miami city limits, and it’s what we’re all about,” says Barrientos.
