This past weekend we went to ROME! It was a way bigger city than what we were used to, but had so much to see! In the famous words of Sam, “So much Roma, so little time-a”. So we roamed around the city, and hit the main attractions!
Carnevale di Venezia
This past Saturday, we made our very first trip out of Florence! We spent the day at one of the most beautiful cities in the world celebrating one of the most famous carnivals in the world.
The Carnevale di Venezia has been running for an eternity, and basically began as a way to blur the boundaries of class in Venice, Italy. It provided everyone with a chance to let their hair down, regardless of their social status, and get their party on!
Not only was the carnival a blast, but we got to spend the day roaming the streets (and canals) of the breathtaking city! I had been in Venice about six years ago, but seeing it now was even more amazing. Now it’s your turn to feel as if you are walking the streets and riding a gondola in Venezia…
Ciao Firenze!
I read countless articles to try and prepare myself for what I was about to be doing, but nothing could compare to the incredible experience I am having in Florence! It now has only been a week, but I feel like I have embarked on one of the greatest journeys of my life.
This video is a little recap of our first few days here. Starting with our flight to Europe where we got delayed in Dusseldorf for 8 hours because of a snow storm, to moving into our new apartment which is more like a penthouse!
While you’re all reading this, I’ll be getting ready for my first school day to start off the semester…yikes! I could not be more excited for the next five months, and I can’t wait to share every minute of it with all of you!
Ciao Miami, Hello Firenze!
Blog Voyage Abroad
Happy New Year everyone! I’m so grateful for all the experiences in 2014, and for each and every one of you who have been a part of my journey. I truly hope that 2015 brings us even more happiness and experiences! But it’s a New Year, so it’s time for New Adventures… Ready for the surprise?!
For the next five months, The City Slicker will be traveling throughout Europe! I will be studying abroad in Florence, Italy! Get ready for beautiful pictures, mouth-watering food, and European style!
Hang on tight…. Catch Me If You Can!
P.S. The City Slicker will still continue to help catch everything otherwise uncatchable in Miami, but during this time it will be through the Mini City Slicker’s eyes! Make sure to follow our mini account @minicityslickers to stay up to date with everything Miami has to offer!
Leave your worries in 2014
The new year is only hours away! With the New Year comes another set of resolutions, new goals and high intentions for making the upcoming 365 days the best yet. As important as resolutions are, having the right mindset and outlook on things is just as necessary for having a great year. This year instead of creating a list of all the things you want to change, how about relaxing and finding peace within yourself?
One of the things you can do to prepare for the new year is to take a hardcore detox bath. Soaking in the right materials can help your body get rid of stuff it doesn’t want, it’s another way to draw that stuff out, like sweating. Maybe there aren’t so many physical toxins you want to clean out before the new year, but you want some kind of scheduled deep cleaning of your life and an opportunity to goal set for the next bit to come. That’s healthy. This is a good way to do that!
This particular recipe is a doozy — make sure you bring a lot of water with you because when you stand up afterwards, you’ll feel very dehydrated!
Fill a bath with really hot water and add:
2 cups epsom salt
1 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
Soak for at least 20 minutes and then rinse off.
Spend special time afterwards caring for you body. Put fancy lotion on, change into nice pajamas, whatever you need to do to send the message to yourself that you have cleaned out the unnecessary junk and you are moving into a new phase (2015) of self-care and enjoyment!
P.S. I definitely reccomend reading Warrior of the Light as another way to get inspired in 2015! The book is full of short passages that invite you to live out your dreams, to embrace the uncertainty of life, and to rise to your own unique destiny.
