It’s West Virginia Craft Beer Week! This year, there’s a new brewery that’s making the top of the list!
After two years of beer crafting, Weathered Ground Brewery got its barrels rolling this August, and in just two weeks has become a very popular spot.
“Most breweries you find are in an urban area, in town somewhere, and there’s nothing wrong with that. All those breweries usually make fantastic beer, but the experience you get out here I think is unlike any other, maybe even in the country. I mean I’ve never been to a brewery like this where you get to sit on the back porch and watch deer and turkey walk around over a hay field and enjoy a really nice, good beer,” Sam Fonda, Co-owner & Head Brewer, told us.
Sam and his wife, along with his father-in-law, broke ground in Cool Ridge to bring all their craft beer knowledge to the mountain state. They became the only taproom in Raleigh County to pour beers onsite.
One of their most popular items is the flight – where you can try up to four of the different beers they have here at the brewery.
So exactly how many beers do they have on tap?
“Right now we serve six. We hope to serve more in the future. We have a lot of plans for expansion and barrel-aging beers, and doing stuff like sours and more farmhouse style ales. Also, utilizing bourbon barrels,” Fonda said.
As the brewery continues to grow, the “brew crew” will provide different flavors each week.
