This week on The City Slicker, I’m taking you to a place where wine enthusiasts have plenty to toast to… Daniel Vineyards looks like a piece of Napa Valley, but in the mountain state valley. And It tastes that way too!
What started as a hobby for Dr. Daniel turned into Southern West Virginia’s largest winery and very popular spot.
Chad Fox, the Winery Manager, told us, “We started Daniel Vineyards back in 1990. Dr. Daniel, he’s a retired radiologist that enjoyed wine and enjoyed wine making, so he thought this would be a beautiful area to do a vineyard. So we’ve roughly been growing grapes here and making wine here for 26 years.”
From their specialty blackberry to a classic rose…. they have over 15 different wines to offer! All of the grape variety of wines that you can find at Daniel Vineyards are grown right on the estate property.
“Daniel Vineyards is a wonderful open space. A lot of people like to walk the grounds. You can actually get to go right into the vineyard areas. We have the gazebo. A couple of nice places to picnic. But of course, here at the winery building we do wine tastings Tuesday–Saturday from 10-5. And they can taste all the different selections of wines we do here,” said Chad.
Visitors can sip and savor in Daniel Vineyards’ tasting room, just minutes outside of Beckley.
With beautiful scenery and flavorful wine, Daniel Vineyards is a One Tank Trip for every season!
