It wasn’t until this weekend that I realized I might actually begin to miss Miami. I was in a big city where everyone was speaking Spanish, and minutes away from the beach. And to top it all off… there were croquetas. I was in heaven. However, Barcelona is the only city in Spain I am planning on visiting while I’m here, and I definitely didn’t feel the traditional Spanish culture that I know I used to feel when I spent a summer in Salamanca during high school. Nonetheless, I had an amazing time visiting old friends along with my new friends from college. We did the typical sightseeing things, but also spent time with the locals.
Las Ramblas
The only place in Barcelona where I truly felt like I was in Spain. It’s an area full of little shops, colorful apartment buildings, and Spanish stores- of course, we got some apargatas (espadrilles) in every color!
La Sagrada Familia
One of the most famous churches in Europe. Completely different from any other church I’ve seen.
Park Guell
If you didn’t take a picture with the mosaic wall, did you even go to Barc?
La Barcelonetta
Strip of restaurants, bars, and clubs right along the beach. Hello Miami!
Surf House
Adorable lunch place right on the beach in La Barcelonetta. The tables are surfboards, and they have all types of lunch dishes and drinks.
