Ever wondered why New York City is called The Big Apple? Here’s a little history lesson for you.
“In the early 1920s, apple was used in reference to the many racing courses in and around New York City. Apple referred to the prizes being awarded for the races- as these were important races, the rewards were substantial. Apples were the highest, most important prizes. New York City is one of these highest, most important cities.”
In the 1920s, NYC was the most popular city. And trust me, it still is today. The streets were filled with people, and every hotel in the city was completely booked. I was only there for three short days, and I still fell in love with the city all over again.
There’s something about those bright lights, flashing ads on Times Square, and crowds of people exploring the city, that just gets your adrenalin going. This trip was for my brother’s 22nd birthday so we did all the touristy NYC things like walk down Times Square, visit Chinatown & Little Italy, see the gigantic tree at Rockefeller Plaza, and eat dinner at the most delicioussssss restaurants (my personal fav is TAO).
This was an amazing family trip! But I have another trip planned to the city in the near future. And it will be a trip that will benefit all of us. Yes, I’m talking to you! So stay stuned!!
