“The Vixen Workout is the latest workout to hit the dance fitness scene.” That was the first sentence, 6 months ago, when I posted the first post on The Vixen Workout. In just 6 months, Vixen no longer needs an introduction. Everyone has either taken a class or heard of the fabulousity of the vixen workout.
I started coming to vixen every once in a while whenever I could fit it into my schedule. But it didn’t take long for me to CHANGE my schedule, and make vixen one of my top priorities. Can’t make it to my class at Body & Soul gym? No prob. I have 5 other locations to choose from. Vixen has become more than a workout for me, but a way of life. It not only has helped me lose weight, but has helped me gain even more confidence in myself than I thought possible. Who do I have to thank for this? Her name is Bliss. My ultimate Blisspiration (HA. See what I did there?)
Here’s my little Q&A with the #Blisseffect
• How did you become a vixen instructor?
My story is a little bit different than the process that the other instructors in Miami have gone through. I have been dancing with Janet since I was about 10 years old. She was my hip-hop instructor at Dance Attack. I took my very first Vixen class on January 21 of last year and immediately fell in love with the workout. At this time classes were only offered once a week but after the first time I took class, I never missed a Monday night Vixen class again. I knew the dances by heart within my first two weeks. About a month into my Vixen obsession, Janet got sick and was unable to make it to class. She was contemplating canceling class but there was only one problem…The RSVP’s were through the roof that Monday night and it would have been such a let down to all of the women who were excited about class that night. Janet decided that I would do a good job of leading the class and so I did. The rest is history!
• Why do you love it? What’s your favorite part?
There are two things that I absolutely love about vixen. First and foremost, it makes me feel alive! It is the one-hour of my day that I get to get up on a stage and do what I LOVE. I get to let go and think of nobody but myself for one whole hour of my day and you just can’t put a price on something like that. The second thing, and this might be my favorite thing about it is the effect that it has on the women that come to our class. Not only do they come and have the time of their lives, but also I get to see the sense of empowerment and confidence they experience as a result of the workout. I have had the pleasure of witnessing girls transform before my eyes and that is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
“One year ago, I walked into a studio with 11 girls, dim lights and music blasting. I fell in love that day. One year later, I’m still in love.” -Bliss
It’s your turn to join the army, ladies.
